About Libaran Turtle Island

Libaran Turtle island is a peaceful island just 45 minutes boat ride off the coast of Sandakan’s Yatch Club. Due to its safe environment, the island is haven to sea turtles and a perfect place to be to witness the life cycle of a sea turtles - from the laying of eggs to releasing their baby hatchlings by the sea.

About Sepilok Orangutan

25 mins west of Sandakan sits The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, a rehabilitation centre dedicated to protect orphaned Orangutans from plantations and illegal hunting. This 10,610 acreas sanctuary provides a boardwalk that leads to viewing gallery that allows guests to witness Orangutans gathering during feeding times. Feeding happens twice a day at 10am and 3pm by rangers.

Important Things to Note

  • This tour package is based on join-in basis of shared guide and transportation. 
  • During the months of monsoon season, Libaran Island Resort is closed due to adverse weather conditions.
  • Activities are subject to weather conditions, and may be re-organised to best meet operational situations.
  • We reserve the right to alter routes, timetables, itineraries and accommodation should conditions beyond our control render it necessary.
  • Departure time is approximate and may vary due to traffic condition and hotel distance. Kindly check with the operator as stated on the voucher should you need further assistance

Additional Information

  • Please ensure you are holding air tickets to Sandakan airport.  
  • You may bring along some SPF50 sunscreen and an umbrella to protect your skin.
  • As this is not a luxury stay, we recommend you to bring your own toilet amenities for a more comfortable stay. 
  • The island electricity is powered by Generators and will cease at 22:00-06:00 hours. You will be given torchlights to carry with you.
  • There are no sundry shops on the island. You may wish to purchase snacks before taking the boat transfer to Liberian Island.
  • Feeding time in Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre will be at 10am and 3pm daily by rangers.
