Diving Terms & Regulations

• Certification Requirements:
• All divers must provide proof of certification (dive card) upon arrival.
• Failure to show proof may prevent diving until certification is verified.
• Minimum certification: Open Water Diver (or equivalent) for general diving.
• Responsibility: Divers are responsible for their own actions, equipment (rented or owned), and adherence to safe diving practices.
• Liability Waiver: All divers must sign a liability waiver upon arrival.
• Included Diving Activities (Diver Package Only):
• Guided Boat Dives: 3 boat dives daily around Kapalai/Mabul are scheduled (typically 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 2:00 PM). No boat dives on arrival & departure days.
• House Reef Dives: Unlimited, unguided shore dives are available directly from the Kapalai Dive Centre during daylight hours. Buddy system is mandatory.
• Night Dives: Unguided dives at the House Reef are permitted for experienced divers (relevant certification recommended). Buddy system is mandatory. Latest water exit time applies.
• Last Day Dive Note: Guests departing to Semporna/Tawau on their checkout day are typically limited to 1 morning dive due to no-fly time requirements.
• Dive Essentials Provided: Tanks, Weights, and Weight Belts are included for all dives.
• Equipment:
• You may bring your own dive gear.
• Rental equipment is available at the resort.
• Safety & No-Fly Time:
• All diving is subject to weather conditions and Dive Centre safety decisions.
• A minimum 24-hour surface interval is strictly enforced before flying.

Boat-In & Boat-Out Schedule (Fixed Schedule)

Important Notes

• Child Policy: Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
• Sipadan Dive Permit:
• There is a daily entry quota of 250 divers for Sipadan Island, issued by Sabah Park. Approval is not guaranteed. Your chances increase if you stay for 3 nights or more.
• The approval will be granted a day in advance, but it is impossible to predict when. If approved, you will be taken to Sipadan at an additional cost.
• The resort will try its best to secure your permit, but they are not responsible for any changes, especially if conservation work or regulations prevent access to Sipadan.
• Extended Stays: Subject to availability, you may extend your stay at the resort.
• Weather Conditions:
• The resort cannot predict weather conditions and diving may be canceled if unsafe. Your safety is the top priority. If diving is canceled due to weather or sea conditions, a refund will be provided where applicable.
• Liability Waiver:
• All guests are required to sign a standard liability form and related documents upon arrival. This is a mandatory step for all guests participating in any activities.
• We highly recommend that you arrange travel insurance that covers scuba diving and other activities prior to your trip to ensure peace of mind during your stay.
• While we prioritize your safety and well-being, please note that we are not responsible for any personal accidents, injuries, property loss, or damages that may occur during your trip. This includes activities arranged by us, as well as third-party services.
• Travel Documents: Ensure your passport has at least 6 months validity from your planned arrival date into Malaysia.

Annual Temporary Conservation Break at Sipadan Island

To help preserve Sipadan’s world-famous marine ecosystem, the island observes its annual conservation break from 1–30 November each year for a period of natural recuperation.

During this time, diving activities at Sipadan will be paused, but the surrounding island resorts remain fully open — guests can still enjoy beautiful dive sites and island excursions in Tun Sakaran Marine Park.

Diving at Sipadan Island will resume on 1 December.

Important Reminders

• Health Considerations: The boat ride to the resort may not be suitable for individuals with certain health conditions, such as heart or lung issues, recent surgeries, back injuries, arthritis, or similar conditions. Please consult your doctor if in doubt.
• Weather Protection:
• Your belongings may get wet during your trip, so bring waterproof bags to protect your items.
• For sun protection, bring SPF50+ sunscreen and a hat or umbrella to avoid sunburns.
• Tipping: While not mandatory, tipping is appreciated by the resort staff.
• Chalet Allocation: Chalets are a mix of air-conditioned and fan-only rooms. They are allocated on a run-of-house basis (first-come, first-served).
• Scuba Diving Insurance: Please make sure your travel insurance covers scuba diving activities before booking.
• No Fly Policy: To ensure your safety, do not fly within 24 hours after your last dive.
• Special Requests: Please inform the resort in advance if you have any specific requests for your stay (e.g., dietary restrictions, medical conditions).
